About EssentialMD

"EssentialMD is a direct primary care practice specializing in the care of you! We seek to keep our patients healthy without the bureaucracy of insurance companies. The only thing standing between your health and your doctor is you! No insurance mandates, directives, or limitations because of deductibles, copays, or uncovered tests/procedures. We still practice high-quality, evidence-based medicine with a holistic approach."

FOUNDING STORY
Prior to founding EssentialMD, Dr. McGhee had been an employed physician since completing his residency and fellowship in 2011. He had a large family medicine panel that was challenging to manage due to the amount of care he wanted to give to each individual patient. Dr. McGhee is known for his compassion, laughter, and excellent care of his patients. However, as the demands of insurance companies and Medicare increased, Dr. McGhee knew it was time to make a change. Hence, EssentialMD was created in August 2018 to proudly serve people in the metropolitan Tulsa area.
FOUNDING PHILOSOPHY
The way healthcare is delivered has shifted away from a patient focus and EssentialMD is here to restore a right relationship between doctors and patients. People have weathered steadily increasing insurance premiums with higher deductibles, but LESS access to their provider than ever before. Doctors are being told by insurance companies how to practice medicine and this isn’t fair to the patient or to the doctor. People have the right to choose what they want for their body. Dr. McGhee knows restoring this control to the patients looks like a direct primary care relationship model that eliminates the shackles and hurdles of insurance. It is time to make caring for people more personalized, direct, and affordable.
